Especially for visitors of this site, Rick has made quite a few covers from songs which Jan composed, Rick is unstopable... keep a close eye on this section
You need RealAudio player to listen to the songs
Ricks own website can be found at www.rickleon.com

compliments, sounds excellent!
I find that your own work also sounds pretty impressive, heavy hammer influences in there
I'm very curious about what kind of equipment did u use to create the bass sounds in the Stones Theme?.
best regards,

Oddly enough, that’s a real bass on that cue. To save some time, I felt it was much easier to punch in live and play the track. I think I did it in one or two takes.
Here’s a break down how this track is done; it’s actually a pretty simple track:
The melody sound is a DX7II with a modified “Jazz Guitar” patch
There is a combination of compression, chorus and reverb handled by 5 separate effects processors.
The Drums are a secret blend of custom samples I have made.
The strings are a combination analog strings and classic Fairlight “Vox” samples handled by Korg Triton, and simple soundfonts triggered by my computer.
The bass is a ‘67 Fender Jazz replica.
The rest is some mastering treatments done when the mix is finished. |

How in the world did you get the guitars in free verse to bend just like (and sound just like) JAN HAMMER??? Did you sample it from the originals? It absolutely blows all of us away. Yours is the closest to the original I've ever heard.
Now, what you need to do is a few real fast paced synth tracks like the car chase in the episode BOUGHT AND PAID FOR. I've waited forever for that one. Lets hear some heavy sequencers now!! _________________ I buy / trade / collect JAN HAMMER instrumentals from just about any sourse. Nope, no samples...
I use the same keyboard and similar patch that Jan used. The secret to get the sound is using the reight effects and in the recording techniuque.

Rick,
Have you tried using the "TOM TOM" DRUM that Jan uses in the MIAMI VICE theme? He says he got the sound by using a tamborine, and lowering it a few octaves. He also used a LINN drum for some of his drum kits as well, but then again, I'm preaching to the choir!
I wrote two pages of liner notes for the rare 2 cd soundtrack to the CBS tv series AIRWOLF. The music was re recorded and re arranged by Mark J. Cairns. He did a great job re creating the score. I know the hard work it took firsthand. I'm EXTREMELY impressed with your work. I'm absolutely, totally blown away. Your fans are thrilled! I'm your fan. I keep checking to see if you've posted anything new. RICK, you are SUPERB! _________________ I buy / trade / collect JAN HAMMER instrumentals from just about any sourse.
